Rob Andrew ran two great races in the M45 category to win a silver medal in the 1500m, followed by a bronze in the 800m the next day at the Alexander Stadium in Perry Barr.
Jon Grix ran a very creditable 6th in the M40 category over 1500m to record a new M40 club best.

I was 2nd in the 1500m on Saturday in 4:17.77 - it was 'pedestrian' stuff up to the bell (last lap) in 3:15 then Dan Moore went for it. I quickly covered him and I thought I would go past him in last 100m, but he proved too strong and I had to settle for second.
I was 3rd in the 800m on Sunday in 2:05.66 - Sean Price won in 2:04.88, Larry Mangleshot 2nd in 2:05.60. (They were 1st and 3rd in last years M40 final). Again, the pace was pedestrian at bell (65 secs) then one bloke pushed it on, another went with 200m to go, which I covered and then I went at 120m to go and felt good. Sean came past me with 80m to go, and then I had a battle with Larry down the home straight and just lost out on the line as my legs went.
I felt pleased with runs, but disappointed not to have won.

I went through the first 400m in 69 seconds, and 2:18 at 800m then it started to get hot; 3.08 at the bell hanging on to the leading group of 5. I managed to maintain my pace - i.e. not increase it, to finish in 4.16.93 in 6th. 3rd-5th were 3 or 4 secs in front of me, so it was not too bad. I was particularly pleased because of my poor build up in the 2 weeks before the race.
