The Frampton 10k is a reasonably flat course set in a beautiful location. A group of 5 Bournville Harriers took part and I’m sure each of us had our own goal for the evening. Mine was to get under 38 minutes, Dean’s ambitious goals were to break the club’s 10k record and run under 34 minutes. He very nearly achieved the second, slicing 32 seconds off his PB, finishing in 34.01. That time alone will give him the incentive to have another try soon I’m sure! Terry and James both ran solid races – it must have been the added incentive of a free glass of cider at the end that kept them going! James is returning from injury and so must be pleased to complete the race without problems. We all know how hard it is to build your fitness up again after being injured but Monday’s race was a perfect way to build up confidence – the atmosphere, location and people were great.
In true form (as Steve will tell you) I forgot something important before the race, and this year it was to wear my watch (this is better than last year though, when I forgot to wear my number!). This meant I had an agonising wait to find out my time. When eventually the results came out, I was delighted with a new PB of 37.27. I had a great race with the eventual winner, running stride for stride all the way around until the last quarter of a mile. My prize of £25 boots voucher will be spent on that all important anti-wrinkle cream (that’s for Steve of course!)
I would recommend the race to other Harriers next year – it’s definitely worth the journey.
