The Cross de Cretes race in Megeve - the photo says it all – 800 metres of cruel Alpine climbing left me in this state. But what a fantastic route – the worst part was running down pistes which left my legs in muscular convulsion for the rest of our summer holiday!

Nevertheless second in my Vet category and a nice set of sunglasses, foot crème and a cooking apron – the French excel with their race prizes and their post race refreshments! But will pass on my time for the 15Km course. My fastest Km was the first downhill but this was rather reluctantly raced as we dropped altitude which only had to be gained over the rest of the race.

Great of Andy to find this race for us but may pass on it during next year’s hols now that we have course knowledge. Recommend to anyone ever in the Alps at end of July!
