Sean's FLM 2007 Training Diary wk6

Week 6 (5/2/07 – 11/2/07) [Mileage for the week = 24]

Mon (5/2)

Staying in an apartment this week. Nice to cook and all that……..and have a bottle of wine on the go.

Went to a new gym. 35min on the treadmill (7min) pace, 2.5m on the bike and then 1000m on the rowing machine.

Tue (6/2)

Rest and more of that bottle of wine.

Wed (7/2)

Back to the gym. I was a little daunted by 48 min on the treadmill…..dull dull dull but then I realised that it was 6 min jog and to and from the gym so I only really need to do 36 on the treadmill. Just about managed that running at 7 min pace.

Thur (8/2)

Checked the website before setting off home from Manchester and saw that the club was closed tonight. How bad is it?!

Oh well the forecast suggests that its going to clear up tomorrow so I’ll take the night off.

Fri (9/2)

Yeah right…clearing up!! 4hrs in the car getting from Warwick to home. Nice and picturesque in our road with the new snow. Not going out in this!

Sat (10/2)

Haha missed X-Country training again this week! For punishment instead we went down to Cardiff to see the family for the weekend. Not sure which is worse….only joking mum.

After 2 days of not running because of the snow I was getting the jitters and by 5 pm I could take no more and dashed out while the boys were having their tea. When I say dashed it was still 47min, I reckon about 7.5 miles. Have to say that if I was training at home I’m sure Id be even stronger as it is allllllllllllllllllllllllllll hills. So the session became a fartlek as I bombed up and down the beach front, up the cliff road, past the x-girlfriends home (memories memories), through Llandough and down to the marina. Then I had to tackle the marina cliff road which is the steepest thing I’ve run up so far. Surprised how well I coped with it. It must be the new shoes!!!!!!

Sun (11/2)

Well at least you get noticed when running at home. Tonight I went out a little earlier and ran back down to the beach. This time I was passed by a few runners and the early evening strollers. I say passed as I was doing hill reps up and down the cliff road and the runners always seemed to come along as I reached the top and coughed up my lungs…..niiiiiiiice.

0.75m down to the beach, 12 x 300m hills, then 0.75m back. Out again in the new 902s. Feeling good. These are looking like a good choice for my marathon shoe.

So missed out on my two long runs this week which is a downer but noticed that I’m started to run with some real form.
